Hassle-Free Bobcat Warranties - Know Before You Go

At Williams Machinery, our goal is to process warranty claims as quickly and accurately as possible. The best way to avoid delays is to provide complete information when a concern first occurs. Bobcat warranty is designed to address defects in materials or workmanship, and proper documentation helps support the review process.

Step 1: Report the Concern Immediately

As soon as you notice a problem, contact your authorized Bobcat dealer.

When reporting the issue, please provide:

  • Machine model
  • Serial number
  • Current machine hours
  • Description of the concern
  • Date the issue was first noticed
  • Photos or videos of the affected area, if available

The sooner a concern is reported, the easier it is to diagnose the root cause and prevent additional damage. Bobcat also requires warranty concerns to be reported during the applicable warranty period.

Step 2: Keep Maintenance Records

A common reason warranty decisions are delayed is missing maintenance documentation.

Please retain:

  • Oil and filter service records
  • Maintenance invoices
  • Inspection reports
  • Operator maintenance logs

Bobcat may request evidence that scheduled maintenance has been performed according to the Operation & Maintenance Manual. Failures caused by lack of maintenance are generally not covered under warranty.

Step 3: Do Not Repair Before Inspection

If possible, avoid disassembling or repairing the failed component before it has been inspected by your dealer.

Bobcat may require:

  • Photographs of the failure
  • Diagnostic information
  • Inspection of the failed component
  • Return of warranty parts for evaluation

Preserving the failed condition helps support the warranty review process.

Step 4: Prepare the Machine for Inspection

Before bringing equipment in for service:

  • Remove excessive dirt and debris around the affected area
  • Ensure the serial number plate is visible
  • Provide any maintenance records available
  • Be prepared to describe the operating conditions when the failure occurred

A clean, accessible machine allows technicians to inspect and document the concern efficiently.

Step 5: Understand the Warranty Review Process

Submitting a machine for warranty inspection does not automatically mean the repair will be approved under warranty.

Bobcat reviews:

  • The reported concern
  • Root cause of the failure
  • Machine hours and warranty status
  • Maintenance history
  • Photos and technician findings
  • Supporting documentation

Based on this review, repairs may be fully covered, partially covered, or determined to be customer responsibility.

Know Before You Go

Items commonly not covered under warranty include:

  • Normal wear items
  • Routine maintenance
  • Damage from accidents or misuse
  • Environmental or application-related damage
  • Freight and transportation costs
  • Rental equipment costs
  • Shop supplies and machine cleaning

These items may appear as customer-pay charges on the final invoice if identified during the repair process.
