Bobcat RogueX3 Concept Loader Earns Red Dot Award
November 3, 2026
Bobcat has earned a 2026 Red Dot Award: Design Concept for its RogueX3, a fully electric, autonomous concept loader designed to explore the future of compact construction equipment. The recognition marks the second Red Dot award for Bobcat's RogueX platform, following the RogueX2 in 2024.
The RogueX3 introduces a different approach to machine design. Its patent-pending, rear-mounted linear actuator tilt system replaces traditional front hydraulic cylinders. According to Bobcat, this configuration reduces mechanical components by more than 50% compared to a typical compact loader while improving forward visibility.
Another key innovation is its modular architecture. The RogueX3 can be configured with tracks or wheels, with or without an operator cab, and with different lift-arm arrangements and power systems. This flexibility allows Bobcat to explore how one equipment platform could accommodate a variety of jobsite applications.
The concept also incorporates a chassis-integrated battery, an electric drivetrain and autonomous technology supported by GPS navigation, sensors and cameras. Remote operation is possible through Bobcat's MaxControl system.
First introduced at CES 2026, the RogueX3 remains a research and development concept and is not commercially available. Its latest award highlights how electrification, automation and adaptable machine design could influence future generations of construction equipment.
