Terberg YT203EV Electric Shunt Truck Walk Around
July 21, 2022
Are you thinking about going electric with a Terberg shunt truck?
Follow our material handling sales representative, Carson as he talks about the Terberg YT203 Electric shunt truck's performance, safety, and savings.
Shunt trucks commonly have the Cummins QSB6.7 Diesel Engine, and that offers 142 kilowatts of power. The Terberg electric shunt truck has a 200 kilowatt ZF electric drive motor. Even with a fully loaded B train, we don’t see the engine utilizing more than 116 kilowatts of power. That’s roughly 60% of its raw capabilities. The stronger the drive motor, the less it will struggle throughout the day.
Now the Terberg uses electronically controlled brakes, meaning the system detects the speed of each wheel and then independently applies the brakes. Not only does this increase the reaction time, it also greatly reduces brake wear and lowers the chance of rollover at higher speeds.
It is easy for the operator to maneuver on the operator platform. Even when the operating conditions are poor in B.C. weather, an operator can get back here and comfortably unhook and hook brake lines without the fear of tripping or slipping.
The Terberg electric is so quiet that you can still have a conversation with someone outside the vehicle. And more importantly if someone is trying to yell to get your attention, you can easily hear them.
Now on the dashboard you have an LED screen that will clearly tell you the codes of the machine. Terberg connect allows for your management team, the dealership, and Terberg to immediately see error codes even before the technician is on site.
Refueling the vehicle is as easy as unplugging this cap and connecting it to your electric charger. It is easy to burn 180 to 200 liters of fuel in a day. In a year, you can easily exceed 70,000 dollars. When you switch to an electric vehicle, you can expect about one tenth of the cost of your fuel right now towards operating your electric machine.
By collecting raw data from your current shunt trucks onboard computer, our Williams Machinery team is able to build an electric shunt truck simulation for your own facility. This develops an accurate ROI based off your exact usage.
